What We Believe

Our Vision

“Let’s see what God can do!” We are on an adventure to be part of what God is doing to change his world.

Our Mission

We want people to come to Jesus, grow in Jesus, and bring others to Jesus.

Our Values

Jesus – he changes everything.
Grace – we are a grace place (everyone needs space).
Love – we go first (because you count).
Family – we don’t do life alone (you belong).
Growth – Growing people are changed people.
Outreach – found people find people (others need to hear).

Statement of Faith

If you want to know more about Riverside Church, we invite you to participate in our Welcome to Riverside classes that are meeting every month. There you will hear in more detail our vision, our practices, and our beliefs.

There is one God. That God exists eternally, past, present and future. He has manifested himself to us in three Persons as described by the Trinity–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–who are united in essence and co-equal.

We believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died a horrible death on the cross but then rose victoriously from the dead and now is the Lord with all authority in heaven and on earth given to him. Jesus is exactly who Jesus said he was.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit as our guide, as our teacher, as our gifter, as the one who empowers us and as the one who applies all of God's riches to our lives. Only the Holy Spirit can change the human heart and so we constantly pray that his presence would be amongst us.
The Father, the son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit are three persons and yet one God. We call this the Trinity.

The Bible

We believe that what the Bible says is true, is true because the Bible is God's Word and can be trusted. The Bible plays a central role in everything that we do and everything we are. The Bible needs no revisions and there is nothing being added to it. It stands alone as God’s word to us.

We believe that when a person encounters Jesus Christ and surrenders to him they are born-again and made a new person in Jesus Christ. The encounter with Jesus will involve repentance, turning away from sin, and will also involve believing in Jesus by surrendering to his Lordship. At that moment all of heaven rejoices and that person becomes part of the family of God. It is a supernatural work crafted by God himself.

We believe in grace; grace is when God gives you what you don't deserve! We believe in grace that goes deeper than your deepest sin, so wide that it encompasses every event of your life and so long that it will take you all the way through life. We believe in giving this kind of grace to people.

The Church

We believe that the church is God's greatest instrument and his only plan on this Earth to communicate his great salvation. Jesus loves the church, Jesus is building the church, and Jesus will come back for his church. The church is made up of every Jesus follower with a salvation experience. We freely fellowship with all Jesus followers everywhere. We believe Jesus is coming back and though we don't know all the details we know that it's going to be a great day!
We believe that God has a purpose for your life that was written down before you were even born. His purpose and his will for your life is good, acceptable and perfect. Living outside of his will is only frustrating, defeating and empty.
